From the beginning, Asenjo imposed a system of work different from that taken in other hospitals. Full dedication to the specialty, full time in the service, that is from 8 am to 6 pm, All clearly stipulated activity, schedule of clinical meetings, surgical ward programming, neuropathology meetings, general visit on Fridays, clinical meeting on Saturdays , Etc., all recorded in a small manual called "Routines", which also stipulated what we now call protocols for the study of each particular neurological pathology. At one time the Institute became "one of the most active in the world" in the words of E.A.Walker.
A cien años de su nacimiento su memoria se perpetua en el Instituto que él fundara y que hoy lleva su nombre y en el corazón de los que tuvimos el privilegio de ser sus discípulos. Desde el inicio, Asenjo impuso un sistema de trabajo distinto al llevado en otros hospitales. Dedicación exclusiva a la especialidad, full time en el servicio, es decir de 8 a.m. a 6 p.m., Toda la actividad claramente estipulada, horario de reuniones clínicas, programación de pabellón quirúrgico, reuniones de neuropatología, visita general los viernes, reunión clínica los sabados, etc., todo consignado en un pequeño manual llamado “Rutinas”, donde además se estipulaba lo que hoy llamamos protocolos para el estudio de cada patología neuroquirurgica en particular. En alguna época el Instituto llegó a ser “ uno de los Más activos del mundo” en palabras de E.A.Walker.
